Library V, 2017

Read books instead of swimming, might be the perfect sentence for this location. Within a one family home, we were asked to transfer an old indoor pool into a library. In order to keep the feeling of the deepness, which was inert to the place, we worked with a deep seating area. This is the main focus of the draft. The deep seating was also important to hold the visibility axis into nature.

The bookshelves are created in a shifted angle to hide the books from one direction – this gives a clean visible effect.

At the junction to the old library we created a solid block, which serves as a bar.

The whole color scheme is dark – darkbrown leather, darkbrown oakfloor, browngray color use for the bookshelf and bar. The selection of the formal language is also enhanced by the main use of the space of the maître of the house.
